Renewing My A+ IT Certification...

Renewing My A+ IT Certification

This past week, I FINALLY completed renewing my A+ IT certification from CompTIA. It took a VERY L-O-N-G TIME to renew my A+ certification. Probably too long. Ultimately, my A+ IT certification got renewed.

Working on CCNA

I was in the middle of studying for Cisco's CCNA IT certification, when I realized that it had been almost three years since I renewed my A+ IT certification the first time. I was reading and taking notes on Chapter 8 in the first volume of Wendell Odom's CCNA textbook when I SUDDENLY realized that I needed to renew my A+ IT certification. The realization hit me like a lightning bolt.

As a result, I quickly logged into CompTIA's website to check for the date in which my A+ certification expired. It wasn't easy logging into CompTIA, mind you, as I had to use two or three different passwords to access the website. However, once I logged into CompTIA's website, I quickly went to the section where I look up the status of my certification. There it was. According to CompTIA's records, my A+ certification was set to expire on July 25, 2025.

Despite the time being 2:30AM, I quickly searched CompTIA's website for how to renew my A+ certification. When I renewed my A+ certification the first time three years ago, I took advantage of CompTIA's new online feature on how to renew your IT certifications that have been earned from CompTIA.

Of course, there will be more to follow about this recent development.

Meanwhile, as I take a short break from studying IT subjects, I am planning on WORKING on my blog here at Blogger!!!

No Posts for March 2025...

No Posts for March 2025

I have been so busy with other things that I completely forgot to make any new posts to my blog for the month of March 2025.

Making new posts here on my blog is always at the back of my mind.

Plus, blogging is something that I really enjoy doing.

As I have discovered as I restarted blogging in the past year or so, to do the kind of in-depth blogging that I want to do here at Blogger, it would require an enormous amount of time and dedication.

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Like I wrote earlier, I am quite busy. Probably too busy.

Here is a partial list of what I have been up to:

  • I workout at a my local gym in Sun City, AZ several times per week.
  • I try to go hiking at least once per week, usually on Saturday.
  • I try riding my bike at least once per week. Unfortunately, I don't seem to ride my bike nearly enough.
  • I was studying for Cisco's CCNA IT certification until I realized that my A+ IT certification from CompTIA expires on July 25th of this year. As a result, after completing chapter 8 in the first volume of the Official CCNA Study Guide, I had to start the online training for the A+ IT certification.
  • I got bogged down on writing posts about at attending the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ and attending Opening Day of the Cactus League in Peoria, AZ.
  • Since I live in Sun City for the time being, there is all of the stuff that my mother wants me to do during the day.
  • I also had a couple of doctor's appointments during the month of March in downtown Phoenix, AZ.
  • I have also discovered that X is quite a time waster that I need to get under control.

Getting Rejected by Google Ad-Sense

Also, during the month of March, I submitted an application to Google Ad-Sense to have advertisements placed throughout posts on my blog in order to generate an income stream. Unfortunately, after waiting for a couple of weeks, I received a notice that my application for Google Ad-Sense had been declined. The reason? Apparently, my blog doesn't meet the content requirements as set by Google Ad-Sense. I guess I have too many photos on my blog and not enough written content. Something like that. Oh, well. It was worth a shot. However, I do see a time when I leave Blogger for a different blogging platform. I am not too sure when it will happen, but it eventually will. For now, I am writing for myself and whomever else may be interested in what I write about.

Making Sense of Google Photos

Then there is the issue of how my collection of photos over at Google Photos is a complete mess. I really do need to sit down and spend some time getting my collection of photos organized into collections and adding key words to each photo. I should also inspect each photo and see if I need to make any enhancements. It can be a lengthy process.

Future Posts

In my Bullet Journal, I have a collection of future blog posts that always seems to get longer and longer.

For example, my post about the Cactus Baseball League in Arizona just kept getting longer and longer. As a result, I have decided to just go ahead and break that post into several shorter posts. I have A LOT of photos that I took last year and this year.

Before I tackle any new topics, I am also trying to finish several incomplete posts here on my blog, such as hiking the Shaw Butte Trail at North Mountain Preserve a second time as well as some posts about my bike rack and almost being the victim of a pig butchering scam.

Plus, I am rewatching the third movie I saw at the Cine Core movie theatre in Seoul on DVD. I am currently planning to write a lengthy post about that movie and how it relates to the Korean War. It's going to take A LOT of work. However, I know that I can do it.

Then, there is that list of blogging topics in my Bullet Journal that I constantly keep adding to.

Lastly, I should go over the HTML reference over at W3 Schools and see if there are additional ways that I can make my blog more sexy. I have learned quite a bit about how to use HTML, but there always seems to be more that I could learn about.

It will take some time, but I will get there.

Organizing My Photos on Google Photos...

Trying to Organize My Photos

As I mentioned in a previous post here on my blog, I am trying to make a push to write posts on the remaining hikes I that I have YETto write about.

The whole process of organizing my photos into collections on Google Photos is A LOT like herding cats. I have 2,182 photos on my phone that I have taken myself. While I am sure that other people may have more photos on their phone, to me, it's A LOT.

Herding Cats (Source: https://www.taggg.com/blog/a-cat-herders-guide-to-booking-remote-meetings)
Herding Cats (Source: https://www.taggg.com/blog/a-cat-herders-guide-to-booking-remote-meetings)

Fortunately, it's just a matter of creating a collection title and then assigning photos to that specific collection.

With so many photos to go through, a lot of scanning is involved. Yes, I am using the Month and Year slider on the right margin of Google Photos to easily scroll through all of my photos.

What surprised me was that I have large amounts of photos on my Google Photos page that are STILL waiting to be organized into collections. For example, I was recently surprised that I didn't have the photos that I took at this year's Polish Festival assigned to a collection. That was easily remedied.

As a result, I am going to have to improve my workflows IOT make it easier to write posts about hiking, for example.

Here are some ideas:

  • Buy a new camera. This is a no-brainer, really. My LG Stylo 6 cell phone needs to be replaced. There are now numerous cracks on the viewing surface of my phone. The only thing that keeps the glass in place is the protective sticky plastic cover I put on it when I bought the phone. Since I started working at events at the Arizona Financial Theatre and at State Farm Stadium, my cell phone has been accidentally dropped numerous times. Additionally, the cell phone battery no longer holds a full charge like it used to. Plus, there is a time lag of several seconds when opening certain apps, such as the camera app. Most importantly, a couple of years ago, LG announced that they were no longer manufacturing consumer cell phones. It came as a great shock. It's only a matter of time before LG stops supporting the cell phones that are currently in use. I believe that LG will stop sending out software updates for their cell phones sometime in 2025.
  • Create a new collection in Google Photos either before or shortly after going hiking. This one says it all. When organizing, it really helps to be pro-active.
  • Upload photos that I have taken with my cell phone to Google Photos shortly after my hike. Preferably the same day as the hike. The sooner the better.
  • Put new photos into assigned collection in Google Photos as soon as possible. Again, the sooner the better.
  • Transfer photos from my phone to my portable hard drive for archiving. This will free up storage on my cell phone. Since the photos would be uploaded to Google Photos, the photos could be deleted. However, I do have hoarding tendencies, so I probably wouldn't do that.
  • Create a new, empty post on my blog for my completed hike. Again, I will be trying to work ahead.
  • Download anything else I would need for my new post, such as a map from the AllTrails website.
  • Assign a date to work on the actual post. I am absolutely horrible at doing this. For whatever reason, I hate being constrained. Not too sure why, but that's how I am. That has to change.
  • Come up with a plan or structure for the post. This can be difficult as I have to play around with all of the elements of a post to figure out what it is I want to do. Still, it helps to have a basic idea on how the finished post will look like and what areas I want to explore. It is really easy to go on a tangent when writing a blog post.
  • Work on post until it is complete. That's self-explanatory. Once I have all of the cats herded together, I can usually churn out a blog post rather quickly.

Those are just some ideas that I have at the moment. I am sure that if I really thought about it, I could come up with others.

Anyway, I think that I have all of my hiking photos organized into collections in Google Photos.

It's time to start cranking out some blog posts.

It's also time to start hiking again. There is a lot to explore.

Identifying Hiking Posts Left to Write...

More Hiking Posts to Come

In a recent post, I wrote about still having a couple of hiking trips that I would like to add to my blog here at Blogger.

Now that the extremely hot weather that Maricopa County experiences during the Summer months is starting to recede, it's time to add these remaining hiking trips to my blog before I start going hiking again.

More to follow.

Future Posts About Hiking...

Future Posts About Hiking

As I mentioned in a recent post, I have been trying to organize all of the photos that I took while hiking at various locations throughout Maricopa County.

Some hiking trips have more photos than others, while some hiking trips barely have any photos.

Anyway, like most things that I write about on my blog, my initial ideas for a post, or series of posts, radically changes after I begin work on it.

In addition, real life always seems to find a way to intrude on what I am trying to do.

It's all too easy to get sidetracked.

As a result, I have a couple more hiking posts that I would like to add to my blog, so that people can see the photos that I have taken.

After organizing my photos into collections in Google Photos, I need to make sure that I have all of the maps and other graphics for each remaining post.

It's just a simple matter of grabbing some screenshots of maps from somewhere on the internet.

Once all of that is done, I can then start writing the remaining posts.

I figure I can complete a new post about hiking probably once per day.

Then, if I really wanted to be ambitious, I could go back and make some improvements on the hiking posts that I have already published to the internet.

Just some ideas that I have.

Once interesting bit of criticism that I have received was the amount of time that I have spent on my blog, especially on a couple rather lengthy posts.

I don't mind. I actually like working on my blog. I also enjoy trying to figure out how to use HTML.

Stay tuned for more future posts about hiking.

Lack of Activity on My Blog...

Explaining the Lack of Activity

There has been a significant lack of activity here on my blog.

As per usual, I have been really busy with all kinds of activity.

Here is a list of things that I have been working on:

  • I have been working concerts at the Arizona Financial Theatre in downtown Phoenix, AZ.
  • I have been working at football games at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
  • I have started riding my bike again.
  • I have been focusing a lot of time and energy working on the Network Support and Security online class from Cisco Networking Academy.
  • I have been working out at the gym quite a bit.
  • I have been organizing my photos into collections over on Google Photos.
  • I have been trying to come up with a list of blogging post ideas to write about.
  • I even flirted with the idea of moving my blog here at Blogger on to another platform.

I even fell into the bottomless pit that is Twitter/X.

I spent a lot of energy on two very long posts. Moreover, I was underwhelmed by the reaction I got to those two posts. Disappointment aside, I am writing this blog for myself. If other people are interested, then that's great.

Lack of interest in my blog isn't going to deter me. It just means that my blog has yet to find an audience. That will come as I write more posts.

Update About My Blog...

Lack of New Posts

Yes, there has been a lack of new posts here on my blog.

I realize that. It needs to be changed.

I spent A LOT of TIME and EFFORT on two specific posts. You can read them here and here.

I also wrote a couple of lengthy posts about my new Sea Sucker Talon bike rack that I bought from REI. You can read those posts here and here.

Yes, there are a couple of recent posts that are INCOMPLETE. I need to circle-back and finish those posts.

For example, I started a post about my recent experience with a pig butchering scam. I am anticipating that the post will be quite lengthy.

I also got distracted with trying to create more elaborate tables on my blog here at Blogger. That opened a whole new can of worms as I tried new techniques for creating tables.

Going through my Bullet Journal, I have all kinds of ideas for future posts here on my blog.

I also need to complete my series about recently completed hikes here in Maricopa County.

As a result, I started creating new albums in my account over on Google Photos.

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day.

Creating Tables on Blogger...

Creating Tables in Blogger

As you may have noticed, when I create a table for my blog here at Blogger, I just use a very simple table that you can make using HTML.

It's a simple technique that does what I need it to do.

However, if you want to create tables with borders, different sizes, padding and spacing, and so on, apparently you need to use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

That's all well and good; however, I just cannot seem to get Blogger to let me use CSS to alter the characteristics of a table.

I am sure that there is a way to get Blogger to let do what I want to do when it comes to making a table.

I haven't found it.

While searching the help feature on Blogger, I found the instructions on how to use CSS to change the formatting of my blog.

For now, I am happy with the look of my blog.

New Technique for Creating Tables

Recently, I performed a search on Google, looking for a way to create more complex tables on Blogger.

One easy technique that I found was to create a table on a word processing application, such as Microsoft Word.

Once your table is complete, you then copy and paste the table into Blogger using the Compose View option.

Well, I tried that out. It worked.

To an extent.

Unfortunately, while in Compose View, you cannot alter the length of the cells in you table.

The obvious solution was to then go from the Compose View to the HTML View for my blog post.

Ideally, while in HTML View, you could, in theory, directly change the HTML code for your table.

Sounds all fine and good, right?

Well, it gets rather tricky.

When you look at the HTML code for the table you created using Microsoft Word or, in my case, Google Documents, Blogger will give you a huge mess of HTML code to go through in order to change the characteristics of the table.

I tried doing just that on my table.

It turned out to be a mess.

I even tried copying the HTML code from the HTML View in Blogger to Google Documents and then separating each line of HTML code.

After doing that, I was hoping to be able to locate what specific part of HTML code I needed to change to get the effect I desired on my new table, i.e., changing the width of the cells (or columns).

Again, something so simple turned out to be a mess.

In Conclusion

For now, I will just continue on with making simple tables for my blog here at Blogger.

It's simple and easy for the information that I am trying to convey.

It's not a problem.

I will keep on experimenting with directly changing the HTML code of the table in Google Documents. I am sure that is the correct technique, but it will take longer than five minutes to complete.

If my memory is correct, the issue I am having with altering the look of tables is an example about the limited functionality of Blogger itself.

Blogger was designed to be a simple way for someone to create a blog without any knowledge of HTML.

For now, that's all well and good. Blogger suits me just fine for what I want to do with my blog.

Perhaps later on I will consider making a change and start using a different blogging platform with more advanced features, such as WordPress or Squarespace.

We'll see...

UPDATE: I recently went over to the W3 Schools website and took another look at making tables in HTML. I copied the code for the basic table and pasted it into Blogger. When I went into Compose View, the table didn't show up. However, when I clicked on Preview, the table appeared exactly how it does on the W3 Schools website. That was a breakthrough. Thus, in order to make a table in Blogger, I will have to actually manipulate the code to create the table that I want. Got it.

Lack of New Posts to My Blog...

Lack of New Posts to My Blog...

Yes, there has been a lack of new posts to my blog.

Quite simply, I have been rather busy working on some quite complex posts on my blog here at Blogger.

Some of these complex posts that I have been devoting large chunks of time to include the following:

  • A rather lengthy post about my first job in information technology (IT) with a Baltimore, MD area company called Data Networks. Status: Completed
  • A second lengthy post about my recent purchase of the Sea Sucker bike rack. Status: Completed
  • A third lengthy post about the another movie that I saw at the Cine Core Movie Theatre in Seoul, South Korea. Status: Completed
  • A fourth length post about rediscovering that I own a copy of the South Korean version of the animated film "Ghost in the Shell" on DVD. Status: Completed
  • A fifth post about my first hike at Thunderbird Conservation Park in Glendale, AZ. Status: Completed

Most of these posts have been completed. The only post that has NOT been completed is my post about the Cine Core Movie Theatre. I hope to finish that post soon. Really soon.

Meanwhile, I have been working on a new online course about computer networking over at the Cisco Networking Academy website.

I have learned A LOT about the importance of planning out a blog post and sticking to your plan. It's so easy to get lost down a rabbit hole when writing a blog post. Just when I think that I have completed a post, I think of new things to add to the post. Plus, I have the urge to re-write large sections of a post.

Plus, there's all of the normal, day-to-day stuff that comes my way.

It never ends. Things just get more and more complex.

Falling Behind on My Blog...

Lack of Updates

In case you weren't aware, I have fallen behind on posting updates to my blog for the past couple of weeks.

Yes, it is true.

As per usual, I have been REALLY busy doing all kinds of stuff.

Last week, I made completing the Final Exam for the Network Addressing and Basic Troublshooting online course from Cisco Networking Academy a top priority.

In addition, I somehow found myself getting involved with working at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ during public events. Not too sure how that happened, but there it is. As a result, I have been busy completing the online courses for serving alcohol and preparing and serving food.

In the meantime, I have started a new online course with Cisco Networking Academy. I will probably make that into its own blog post.

Plus, I need to keep working on the complex blog posts that I have been working on for the past couple of weeks here on Blogger. Those three posts NEED TO BE completed ASAP.

As per usual, there never is enough hours in the day.

More to follow.

Running Behind on Posts...

Running Behind on Posts...

Yes, I am running behind on posts to my blog here at Blogger.

It is something that needs to be corrected.

This week, I hope to have a few posts completed and added to my blog.

My second post in my series about seeing movies at the Cine Core Movie Theatre in Seoul, South Korea is running WAY behind schedule. It's going to be a complicated post. However, I have a nasty habit of taking pride in my work.

I am also running behind on posts for previous hikes in the Maricopa County area.

Lastly, there is more material I want to cover on my blog about networking.

It will take time and dedication, but it can be accomplished.

I can come up with all kinds of ideas for posts here on my blog.

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day.

Plus, there are ENDLESS distractions that lure me away from blogging.

It never ends.

Lack of New Posts...

No New Posts...

Yes, I know that there haven't been very many blog posts for the past week or so.

As per usual, I got distracted with doing other things.

Plus, I got somewhat carried away with writing and revising this post and this post.

I also got lost in the labrynth that is my Twitter/X feed. Way too many distractions.

As a result, I still have a backlog of blog posts that I need to write for my blog.

  • Posts about hiking trips in the Phoenix, AZ area over the past several months.
  • Additional posts for my series about seeing movies at the Cine Core Movie Theatre in Seoul, South Korea.
  • A lengthy post about the films of Japanese film director Shunji Iwai.
  • Another lengthy post about a CD made by a friend that I am no longer able to find.
  • Posts about various IT subjects as I work my way through online courses from the Cisco Networking Academy.

Of course, that's just a list right off the top of my head.

I have a list of future blog posts somewhere in my Bullet Journal.

I would also like to add some HTML razzledazzle to my future blog posts as well.

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day.

I will notify my Facebook feed as the posts are published to my blog.

It Has Been a Couple of Days...

It Has Been a Couple of Days

Yes, I am completely aware that I haven't updated my blog over the past couple of days.

In fact, I left my most recent post incomplete.

Then, there are posts that I need to re-write and/or update.

Plus, there is my backlog of posts that I keep intending to write about.

If I don't update my blog, then those posts don't get written.

It's that simple.

The State of My Blog...

The State of My Blog

For the past few weeks, I have re-discovered my interest in blogging on my blog here at Blogger.

Overall, I am pleased with the results.

However, I know that things could be better with my blog.

Here is an unordered list of things right off the top of my head.

  • I NEED to re-write and/or update some posts on already published to my blog.
  • I NEED to publish posts to my blog at least once per day.
  • I NEED to work on my backlog of posts that I want to publish to my blog.
  • I NEED to do a better job at advertising about my blog (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, etc.) IOT increase my audience.
  • I NEED to do a better job at planning on what items a new post will contain.
  • I NEED to try and incorporate more challenging HTML techniques into my blog.
  • I NEED to try to write about local items of interest, such as news items for Glendale, AZ and Peoria, AZ.
  • I NEED to get my blog approved for AdSense, so I can make some extra money off of my blog.
  • I SHOULD try to write more posts about IT subjects, such as studying for CCNA.

Like I just wrote, that is a list right off the top of my head on things I can do to improve my blog.

Let's face it, it takes time to write and put together a good post. There is a reason why some bloggers spend a large portion of their day trying to come up with a really good post.

I also have some blogging ideas favorited on my Pinterest account. It's been awhile, so I should take a look at those.

It's not easy as I have A LOT of things to do and A LOT of things that I want to do.

It's all about small, incremental progress.

Unfortunately, it's the most frustrating kind.

Attending the Electrify Expo, Part 2...

Second Half of the Electrify Expo

This is my second post about attending the Electrify Expo at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ on Sunday, May 5th.

If you want to read my first post about the Electrify Expo, then click on this link. I also posted quite a few photographs that I took of the event.

This post will focus on what I saw after I left the main exhibition area.

Celsius Energy Drink

After looking around the exhibition booth for Nikola Motor, I picked up a complimentary can of Celsius Energy Drink. The can was ice-cold. The temperature was above 90 degrees, so it hit the spot. I don't remember what flavor I drank.

Modifications and Customizations

The next exhibits of the Electrify Expo consisted of vendors that would customize or modify your EV, such as new tires, custom paint jobs, custom parts, and various other methods to modify your EV. For me, the exhibits became interesting when I came across a vendor that were selling customizable camping tents that mounted on the back of a Rivian pick-up truck. That was interesting to see. I knew that Rivian on their website also offers a camping tent that you can attach to your pick-up truck. Not too sure if they were the same product, however. There was even tubing that you could run from the air conditioner to the camping tent for heating or cooling. There was a vendor that was selling an all-electric camping trailer. Another vendor was even selling an entire field kitchen that could be powered by your EV.

Here are some photos that I took.

E-Bikes and E-Scooters

The next section of the Electrify Expo consisted of all of the electric bike (E-bike) and electric scooter (E-scooter) vendors. From what I saw, the price range for an E-bike ran from as low as $2,000 to as high as $9,000. I have to admit that I am not too interested in E-bikes, yet I can see where having one could be useful, such as riding up a steep hill.

The Heritage at Sportsman's Park

All of this walking around made me really hungry, so I was happy when I came across The Heritage at Sportsman's Park. I had never heard of The Heritage at Sportsman's Park before. It was really nice. The Heritage at Sportsman's Park is a three-story structure. The ground floor has a kitchen where you can order food and drinks. The second and third floors have several large flat-screen TVs and tables and chairs. I think the third floor has a bar. Basically, The Heritage at Sportsman's Park is a restaurant, a sports bar, and a nightclub in a relatively small three-story building. Apparently, you can even rent out the place for weddings or corporate parties. It's nice. I ordered a Sonoran hot dog with an iced tea. It was pretty good, but pricey at $18.

Testing Out EVs

After eating my Sonoran hot dog, I followed the crowd to the next section of the Electrify Expo. In the third section of the Electrify Expo, the organizers set up a couple of racing tracks for trying out EVs. On one track, you could check out an E-bike or an E-scooter and ride for a couple of laps. On a second track, Ford Motors set up a small test track where people could ride as passengers as a professional test driver drove a Ford Mustang EV. BMW and Kia had a similar set-up for their EVs. I think that Tesla was letting spectators ride as passengers as professional test drivers drove on the streets around State Farm Stadium. I didn't try riding an E-bike or ride shotgun on an EV. Again, these companies wanted your personal information for marketing purposes. The companies were also trying to screen for potential buyers. I was content with watching other people. The problems with the racing track area were that shade was in short supply and there wasn't anything available to drink.

In Conclusion

I had a good time at the Electrify Expo. It was DEFINITELY worth the $20 I paid for a ticket. If you are curious about electric vehicles, then I RECOMMEND that you visit the Electrify Expo. Just as a disclaimer, I do own stock in Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, Nio, and Xpeng. Do I own an electric vehicle? No, I do not. I am still driving my 2010 Nissan Maxima that I bought with money I earned from working in Afghanistan. However, my car is rapidly approaching the 100,000 mile mark.

Network Addressing and Basic Troubleshooting Online Course

With everything else that I have been doing, I have also been neglecting to study Module 2: The Data-Link Layer in the "Network Addressing and Basic Troubleshooting" online course over at the Cisco Networking Academy.

I will have to rectify that issue ASAP.

It's easy to get distracted with posting to my blog, posting to my Twitter/X account, and posting to my LinkedIn account.

Plus, I haven't updated my Bullet Journal or created new charts for the month of May either.

As you can read, there is a very long To Do List to work on.

I wil start first thing in the morning.

It's too late to do anything meaningful right now.

Creating a Table Depicting Types of Ethernet Cables Using HTML...

Creating a Table for depicting the Different Types of Ethernet Cables

For this post, I am going to make an attempt at creating a table about the different types of Ethernet cables using HTML.

I am going to base the my table on "Table 2-2 Examples of Types of Ethernet" found on page 37 of the CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide Volume 1 by Wendell Odom.

Let's give it a try.

Speed Common Name Informal IEEE Standard Name Formal IEEE Standard Name Cable Type, Maximum Length
10 Mbps Ethernet 10BASE-T 802.3 Copper, 100 m
100 Mbps Fast Ethernet 100BASE-T 802.3u Copper, 100 m
1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX 802.3z Fiber, 5000 m
1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-T 802.3ab Copper, 100 m
10 Gbps 10 Gig Ethernet 10GBASE-T 802.3an Copper, 100 m

Comment:

It wasn't too difficult to create a basic table using HTML.

Yes, the end result is a little plain to look at.

I tried to add a grid around each cell. According to Blogger, in order to do that, I have to enable CSS on my blog. Apparently, it is easy to do so.

By enabling CSS on my blog, I can add further enhancements to the table to make it more visually appealing, such as making each alternating row a different color.

Therefore, I will enable CSS in the very near future.

Anything to make my blog better.

Meanwhile, I will add hyperlinks for each cell under the Formal IEEE Standard Name column.

That's easily done.

Blog Odds and Ends...

Well, today, I F-I-N-A-L-L-Y got around to creating my first post about hiking (see here and here).

Talk about a relief.

While I am pleased with the results, I know that I can do better with subsequent posts.

For now, I am just happy with the post containing a narrative about my hike, a map to orient the reader, and some photos taken during my hike.

The posts will get better as I learn more about how to use Blogger as well as how to do things using HTML.

Like I wrote earlier, I have a backlog of posts that I intend to write about.

Anyway, it was just great to convert the URL for the blog post into a TinyURL and then post the link to my Facebook account for people to click on.

Guess what? It worked. I had the most views to my blog in a long, long time.

Speaking of learning more about how to use Blogger...

There are more items to explore that I can use to improve my blog.

Examples right off the top of my head include:

  • Filling in the gaps of my profile.
  • Adding more URLs of blogs that I like. [Note: It has been a L-O-N-G time since I have read any blogs on a consistent basis.]
  • Learning more about how to use HTML.
  • Adding more local content to my blog. [Note: The local blogs that I have seen aren't very good.]
  • Working on my backlog of posts that have been simmering in my head for the past couple of years.
  • Not being afraid to make any mistakes with my blog, yet striving to be accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Writing more posts!!!

That's just off the top of my head.

I am sure that I will have more ideas tomorrow on how to improve my blog.

That's it for now.

Just Checking In...

Yes, I realize that I haven't posted to my blog for the past couple of days.

I just got busy doing other things.

As a result, I NEED to update all of my social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter/X, Blogger).

  • On Friday, I went to the Home Depot in Surprise, AZ and bought some items to practice making crossover networking cables. Look for an upcoming post on that.
  • On Saturday, I drove back down to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and did some hiking. I had to try out my new hiking boots and my new hydration system. I also tried using the All Trails app on my phone as I hiked. Look for an upcoming post on that.
  • Lastly, I took some photos while hiking, so I will have to make a post on about that. In fact, I have to get to work on writing these posts about hiking in Maricopa County. I should be able to one post per day. I need to get to work on this or my backlog will get incredibly long.

Now, it looks like I am going on an afternoon trip over to Wickenburg, AZ, so I might not be able to start posting until later tonight.

Things happen...

Coming Back to My Blog...

Well, it has been a

L-O-N-G

time since I have posted anything on my blog here at Blogger.

The fact is that I completely forgot about my blog here at Blogger.

The fact is that I got overwhelmed with work and the long list of things that I was doing at the time.

It's par for the course, actually.

I make all sorts of plans on what I want to do. I can come up with a list of goals that I want to achieve.

Those aren't a problem.

Then, I get overwhelmed. I get distracted. Then life happens.

Then, I get bored and/or discouraged because I haven't met any of the goals that I have set for myself.

It happens.

Some people think that I have Adult-ADHD.

It's quite possible and would explain A LOT.

Anyway, so why did I come back to my dormant and forgotten blog here at Blogger?

Well, when I recently went hiking two weeks ago, I took 68 photographs. While going through the photos on my Dell laptop, I got overwhelmed with trying to decide what photos I was going to post to Facebook for people to see.

I suppose that I could have just posted 12 random photos from the 68 photos to Facebook and then moved on to something else.

For me, it's not that easy. When I make a post to Facebook, I make a post. In fact, it's more than a post. It's probably closer to an essay.

After considering opening an account at Flickr, I remembered about my blog here at Blogger.

I can make a long post about going on a hike, add a map, and upload as many photos as I want.

I can do the same thing when I go for a bike ride.

Plus, I can then write posts about other subjects and things that I am doing.

Believe me, there is A LOT that I want to do and achieve.

Plus, I get to rediscover how to write in HTML. ;-)

Stay tuned for updates.
